Another Saturday and another day of feeling overwhelmed by the kitchen.

The up side: The cabinets are in! How exciting, right? They came on a Wednesday and finished late Thursday afternoon. We still have a lot to do: finish the handles, replace the cabinet over the fridge, switch the 2 cabinets by the sink, then sand, sweep, mop, prime, and paint the concrete floor, and paint some extra spaces around the cabinets. There are not enough hours in the day…

The cabinet over the fridge is too small (actually, all the cabinets are too high – I think the one over the fridge was supposed to go over the microwave…), so we need to exchange it for a larger one, and we don’t have enough large handles. So it will be another Saturday Ikea time warp to take care of all of that. Somewhere down the line we are going to have to do something about those lights too…. they are not the top thing on my mind right now (obviously).

The counter top company came last Monday to measure the counter tops, Ikea’s measurements were off by 10 square feet, so we have to go in to pay the difference. Looks like the counter top of choice has switched from Silestone’s “Ebony Pearl” to Caesarstone’s “Concrete”.

On top of all of this my poor car has recently rendered itself unusable so in the midst of all this I have to find the time to acquire a new car. Thankfully BF’s wonderful brother/sister in law are loaning me one of their cars while the other is out of town. They are basically saving my life (and sanity).

My piece of advice? Don’t ever remodel a room in your house unless you have enough money to pay someone else to take care of every piece of it for you, oh, and don’t buy a car with a salvage title off of Craigslist…
