thursday things

I can’t believe it’s October, well, the end of October. I started the year so organized, with posts planned and recipes scheduled and then… something happened. I even had a goal: a cake a month. I even made a couple of them… and some of them were pretty good!  But I don’t think any of them actually made it to the site.  Well, now that it’s like ten months later… I decided to pick myself up, dust myself off, and get back on track.  I’m happy  to say that I have actually SCHEDULED posts for the rest of October.  I know it’s only like a week, but still.  Don’t judge.

So far, I’ve stuck to my schedule.  I baked the items I was supposed to bake on Sunday, I posted my candy corn cake on Monday, and here I am today – Thursday!  With Thursday Things! (SO on top of it).  In case you missed the cake, here it is:

Just look at that beauty.

In a semi-related note, I realized that I can’t make a “to do” list without putting at least one item that I’ve already accomplished on there.  It’s always like, “1. Make a list, CHECK!”  Something about having just that one (or two) already completed items makes me feel so much better, and makes the rest of the list seem so much more manageable.  I know it’s kinda cheating… but still.  Hey, like I said.  Don’t judge.

Thursday Things is not a place for judgment… it is a place for openness and acceptance.

Right?

Right.

So you won’t judge me for stopping at the new cupcake shop down the road and picking up a few.

Don’t worry, Gigi.  I know the answer to that question.

Know what I miss most in October?  PUMPKINS!  Not for eating, but for carving!  I’ve heard that people out here carve pumpkins, I’ve even seen a picture or two, but I have yet to see a real life jack-o-lantern since I’ve moved here.

I just assumed it was too warm here for the pumpkins to last, so people didn’t do it.  Back east (or north, or northeast, pick a direction) it’s cold enough that you can carve your pumpkin and leave it for a week, or weeks, or even a month.  With temperatures in the mid-80s here, I’d give it a few days tops… assuming some sort of critter doesn’t get to it first.  With all the hard work that goes into carving, it’s almost not worth it… although, I could make some tasty pumpkin seeds.  Maybe that would make it worth my while.  Maybe…

OH, and in case you missed it, I WAS ON HUFFINGTON POST!!! Well, my cake was. Go me!  If you didn’t already know, it’s probably because you don’t follow me on Facebook.  In which case you should get your tooshy over to Facebook and click that “Like” button ASAP!

Oh, and I can’t forget about the HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEKEND.  BF and I went to see Dan Cummins, one of our favorite comedians, up close and personal at Stand up, Scottsdale comedy club.  I laughed so hard I cried… it was amazing.  I didn’t even recognize him at first because he gained like a bajillion pounds (maybe like 30?) and cut off all of his hair.  I was all “WHO IS THIS (meedium-creepy-looking) IMPOSTOR?!” but then he started talking and everythign was all better.  Afterward, I made the BF take a pic of us (me and Dan, of course) … he kinda looks like a child molestor, but it’s OK.  No judgment.  If you’re not familiar with him, I suggest you familiarize yourself HERE.

  1. i am so MAD because i didn’t see you on HUFFPO! stupid facebook; foiled again! it’s like i can’t get any of the awesome posts and instead i get the dumb ones i don’t even want. i’m going to fix this. Congrats! i’m going right over to appreciate it in its full glory.

this really IS like our emails to each other.

oh! and btw: i do the same thing with checklists; usually i put at least two or so other things i just did, or thought about the night before and then did before i got the list written. it’s very motivational, i agree.
