thursday things and an easter brunch roundup

instagram sunset march
I caught that pic while the BF and I were driving to the store.  Not too shabby for a weeknight sunset in the city, eh?

It’s the last Thursday Things for the month of March, and this weekend will be the last March (Cake) Madness recipe (although, not the last cake recipe by far).  I seriously can’t wait to share it with you.  As soon as I bit into it I was like, “Aw crap…”  Which doesn’t SOUND like a good thing, but it was just because after overdosing on confetti cake, and then making Oreo cupcakes, the last thing I wanted to know was that I had made another delicious cake.

To refresh our memories, here is March (Cake) Madness so far:

Oh yeah, that last one… that one is for this weekend.  Trust me, it’s worth the wait.

I’m salivating just thinking about it… I don’t know why I just told you that.

Don’t mind me…

Here’s what you missed this week, BF and I made some delicious pizzas on the grill for dinner on Sunday.  Mine was pepperoni, pepperoncini, and like a bajillion types of cheese.  Oh, and wanna know my secret ingredient?  Bolognese for the sauce.  Yup.  Delicious.

I have a post here about how to make your very own delicious pizza from the comfort of your home.

I know I’ve been slacking on adorable kitties lately, but here is one heck of a gif that is bound to make you smile.  And laugh.  And make it painfully obvious that you’re not doing work-related things while you’re at your computer.

This one is not a kitty, but it’s still hilarious.

Oh, and if you’re still hunting for the perfect Easter basket… I saw the cutest candy-holders ever at Walgreens (I swear, that place has everything).

I kinda just want to buy like 100 of them and put them all over the house as “decoration”…

I can’t think of a single reason why that would be a bad idea.

This weekend the BF and I are packing our bags and heading on our first vacay (of 2013) – hittin’ the road to Cali!  Neither of us has ever been to California and I CAN’T WAIT TO GO!

That being said, things may get a little quiet around here next week.  If you start to miss me too much, you can always check in on me via Instagram or Facebook to see what I’m up to.  😉

Although I’ll be eating out this Sunday, if you’re hosting Easter brunch this weekend, here are some ideas for your party… And now, I present to you

  1. Haha, that kitty gif was so funny. Kitties are so sneaky!!! I didn’t like the pool one though…that was just mean 🙁 I think maybe I put myself in the position of the kid getting jumped on and had a little anxiety attack because it reminded me of getting caught under my boogie board in the ocean one time when a wave came. Obviously i have a little PTSD.

You should totally get those owl candy holder things. I want a pic of your newly decorated living room!

Have so so much fun in Cali! Where are you going?

    • The pool one KILLED me. That’s totally me as a kid. Oblivious to my surroundings, just ready to dive in hahahaha…. oh yeah, brings back some memories… granted, usually I only injured myself.

  2. your sunsets…seriously. AZ must be like the Truman Show and put up fake sunsets on a screen somewhere so you forget that you live in a desert.
SO agree about walgreens: it’s like, they’re maybe 1/93 the side of a Wal Mart, yet they have more things. somehow. it’s weird. those owls are going on my list/getting in my car with me later today.
i think you hurt amy’s sensibilities with that kid GIF…. 🙂 although i just put myself into the floater’s position and that would be super scary. i can see how that kid is maybe scarred for life.
my goat cheese tart made the Easter cut! i wish i was making it for easter…i’m like, the only one coming that would eat it though (although this never stops me from making things). i want those cinnamon sugar popovers so bad..i really need to go to SLT for that popover pan i saw. maybe this week.
um, also, teeny blt’s…so making them. stella and i went CRAZY over this teeny bread we saw at the store yesterday which had to be even smaller than this. like “crazy” as in it was in a few locations throughout the store, and every time we carted past a tiny bread section, one of us would yell out “TINY BREAD!!!” so the other one would know. The other shoppers appreciated it, i’m sure.

    • It looks so good, seriously. And I bet if you didn’t tell everyone that it was goat cheese they would totally just inhale them at light speed. People get all prejudice about certain ingredients… I used to be able to hide them from the BF but now he has wised up… he always asks “what’s in this?” before he eats it… or if it’s from the store he will totally read the ingredients list. Now I’ll have to start taking a sharpie with me to mark off ingredients … “that’s weird that one is blacked out …. I have no idea why…”
OMG TINY BREAD! That sounds like something I would totally do… but I would be the only one yelling about the tiny bread hahaha
