Halloween Recipe Roundup

8a84817a32ab11e3b7ea22000a1f9366_8

HALLOWEEN IS NEXT WEEK!  And even though I don’t go trick-or-treating, or go to any parties, or do anything at all really… I still (for some reason) get excited for Halloween.  I’m trying to figure out what to be this year.  I really need to make a new costume, especially since I wore the same costume the last 2 years in a row.

So, I have for you some Halloween-esque recipes.  Some are more Halloween-themed than others; but since last year’s roundup focused pretty much solely on sweets, so I thought I’d throw in a couple of savory items for this year’s too.  You can always dress them up to be more “Halloween-y” (use your imagination! <– CONFESSION: so right there I accidentally typed “imaginator” and I really think I like “imaginator” way better)

Since it’s Thursday, I’ll give you a couple of “Thursday Things” before I dive into the round-up.  Like this thing that I watched for WAY TOO LONG.  Like, I’m debating if I may have brain damage “too long.”  I’ve also been missing my usual Thursday shows so I’ve replaced 30 Rock by watching these over and over.  And over.

Oh, and then there’s this, for your daily dose of cuteness.

And this for your daily dose of weirdness.  What is going on over there in Japan anyway?  How do they come up with all these things?

Last but not least, I can’t wait to do this to my future child.  Those of you who have children, please do this and send me the video. K? Thanks.

Onto the Halloween Round-Up…

thursday things and an easter brunch roundup

instagram sunset march
I caught that pic while the BF and I were driving to the store.  Not too shabby for a weeknight sunset in the city, eh?

It’s the last Thursday Things for the month of March, and this weekend will be the last March (Cake) Madness recipe (although, not the last cake recipe by far).  I seriously can’t wait to share it with you.  As soon as I bit into it I was like, “Aw crap…”  Which doesn’t SOUND like a good thing, but it was just because after overdosing on confetti cake, and then making Oreo cupcakes, the last thing I wanted to know was that I had made another delicious cake.

To refresh our memories, here is March (Cake) Madness so far:

Oh yeah, that last one… that one is for this weekend.  Trust me, it’s worth the wait.

I’m salivating just thinking about it… I don’t know why I just told you that.

Don’t mind me…

Here’s what you missed this week, BF and I made some delicious pizzas on the grill for dinner on Sunday.  Mine was pepperoni, pepperoncini, and like a bajillion types of cheese.  Oh, and wanna know my secret ingredient?  Bolognese for the sauce.  Yup.  Delicious.

I have a post here about how to make your very own delicious pizza from the comfort of your home.

I know I’ve been slacking on adorable kitties lately, but here is one heck of a gif that is bound to make you smile.  And laugh.  And make it painfully obvious that you’re not doing work-related things while you’re at your computer.

This one is not a kitty, but it’s still hilarious.

Oh, and if you’re still hunting for the perfect Easter basket… I saw the cutest candy-holders ever at Walgreens (I swear, that place has everything).

owl easter box

I kinda just want to buy like 100 of them and put them all over the house as “decoration”…

I can’t think of a single reason why that would be a bad idea.

This weekend the BF and I are packing our bags and heading on our first vacay (of 2013) – hittin’ the road to Cali!  Neither of us has ever been to California and I CAN’T WAIT TO GO!

That being said, things may get a little quiet around here next week.  If you start to miss me too much, you can always check in on me via Instagram or Facebook to see what I’m up to.  😉

Although I’ll be eating out this Sunday, if you’re hosting Easter brunch this weekend, here are some ideas for your party… And now, I present to you

Thursday Things – Happy Valentine’s Day!

valentine

It’s Valentine’s Day and that is the card my wonderful, loving boyfriend got me.  It came all the way from Europe.  It’s extra hilarious because the one that I got him looks like this:

Same thing… pretty much.  Right?  Right.

I also found these super cute owl printables that I gave out to the people at work (because I’m 5 years old).  Seriously.  So cute.

And then there’s Rachael over at Movita Beaucoup who posted a link to this pretty amazing love letter to carbs.  I can totally relate.

The BF and I usually don’t do gifts for Valentine’s Day (dinner at our favorite restaurant is enough of a gift), but this year he surprised me with physical gifts, too!  Of course, since he has no self-control, I received them as they arrived.  🙂

Gift 1: Miracle Berries!!!

Have you heard of these things?  They make sour sweet and sweet sour.  I can’t wait to try them!

Gift 2 & 3: An adorable owl bank.  I’m medium obsessed with owls (in case you haven’t noticed yet).  BF also got me these nesting owl measuring cups 🙂  Aren’t they the cutest thing ever!?

AND… if you’re still scrambling around for Valentine ideas, or if you’re planning celebrating late because Thursday is seriously a pretty lame day for Valentine’s Day (BF and I are actually celebrating tomorrow)

Or if you hate Valentine’s Day and I wasn’t able to change your mind… Here are some delicious recipes to make and share, or eat alone (no judgment from me!)

Valentine’s Recipe Round-Up

For dinner…

How about some super easy chicken parmesan?  Even the BF who used to “hate chicken parm” LOVES this recipe (and it’s the only chicken parm he will eat!)

Or, if you’re feeling a little fancy, how about some fig and goat cheese stuffed chicken breasts from Love & Olive Oil?

Or, I guess if you’re not into chicken, you could always do Bakeaholic Mama’s beef bourguignon

Bakaholic Mama's Beef Bourg

Or some stuffed shells for the vegetarian (not vegan) valentine 😉

For dessert…

Make something simple like Brown Eyed Baker’s flourless chocolate cake, and throw on a dash of Valentine sprinkles

or maybe cut some delicious brownies into heart shapes

Or, if you’re really low on time, try some heart-shaped strawberry rice krispy treats from Foodie Crush
